Wednesday 17th September 2025
The Hot Water Association (HWA) is pleased to announce that the recently elected chair of its Technical Committee is Eric Winter, New Product Development and Innovation Director at Syr UK.
The Technical Committee is made up of technical experts from HWA member organisations and was formed to address challenges in the marketplace.
Eric explains: “Our mission is to support the Association with anything technical that might arise that could affect the whole of the hot water industry. This includes changes to, and compliance with, legislation, such as the Building Regulations and Water Regulations, and various other standards and approvals.
“We can also provide expertise around new technologies and innovations. We recently contributed to the HWA paper on Connected Homes that was launched in Westminster during Energy Week, that explains how connected cylinders could play a major part in cutting carbon and balancing the electricity grid.
“I am proud to be elected as Chair and to work with a team of experts, where we use the benefit of our experience to support the Association in any technical challenges that arise,” he concludes.
Before joining Syr UK, Eric has worked for over 30 years in several roles with manufacturers and contractors, including Technical Director, Technical Support Manager and New Product Development Director.
Prior to that, he served a plumbing apprenticeship and then worked in various roles as a qualified plumber, including an eight month contract with the British Antarctic Survey to work on the refurbishment of a scientific base on the Antarctic peninsula.
